Company Founded
Building on Strong Foundations
In 1993, Desmond Rafferty established Portafill on the family farm near Galbally, Co. Tyrone. The company’s first creation was a ground breaking trench-filling machine that attached to the back of a tipper truck. This innovative machine used a conveyor to efficiently move sand from the hopper into trenches, embodying the portability that would become central to Portafill’s identity. This pioneering product inspired the name “Portafill,” signaling the company’s commitment to mobile, easy-to-use solutions.
